Management = when you achieve organizational
goals in an effective and efficient manner. You do that

organizational resources.
Effectiveness and efficiency
Organizational effectiveness = how succesfull an
organisation meets its goals.
Organizational effiency = using minimal resources
(raw materials, money and people) to produce the
desired product.
The four management functions
How a managers use resources to achieve the goals of
the organization:
1.Planning = when you make goals for the future of
your organization. Then you decide on the tasks
and use of resources that you need to achieve the
goals.

2.Organizing = when you follow the planning and
you reflect how the organization tries to
accomplish the plan.
Organizing involves:
Assigning tasks
Grouping tasks into departments
Delegating authority
Distrubuting resources across the organization
3.Leading = when you use influence to motivate
employees to achieve the goals of the
organization.
Leading means:
Creating a shared culture and values
Communicating goals to people throughout the
organization
Infusing employees with the desire to perform at a
high level
4.Controlling =
Monitoring employees’ activities
Determining wheter the organization is moving
towards its goals
Making corrections as necessary
