Uitgangspunten Humanisme
- Gedrag bepaald door:
1. Externe wereld bepaalt ons gedrag door de interpretatie die wij hieraan geven
= feiten zijn minder belangrijk dan de beleving, want die is uniek
2. Onze vrije wil : het humanisme heeft een positief mensbeeld (mens is vrij en
verantwoordelijk : existentiële vrijheid)
- Gaat uit van ontwikkelingsmodel = groeipotentieel en zelfactualisatie (de wil om
gelukkig te zijn en capaciteiten te benutten)
- Ziet de mens als geheel = holisme (tov reductionisme), mensen zijn uiterst complex. De
mens is meer dan de som van delen = gevoelens, gedachten, gedrag hangen samen en
zijn ideaal in balans.
Kritieken op het Humanisme:
Bekijkt enkel individu = te simplistische kijk op realiteit want er zijn ook andere aspecten aan
gedrag, zoals algemene wetmatigheden
Te optimistisch en naïef
Niet wetenschappelijk
Te veel focus op het individu
Typisch Westers = etnocentrisch
Geschiedenis van het Humanisme:
1762: Jean Jacques Rousseau: de mens in inherent goed en maakt beslissingen vanuit zijn
goedheid
1954: Maslow en Rogers: basisleggers: positieve kijk op de mens en maatschappij vanuit
groeipotentieel en wil.
1960: Sartre: existentialisme: groot belang individuele verantwoordelijkheid en vrijheid
Komt voort uit gestaltpsychologie en is een Amerikaanse reactie op de psychoanalyse en het
behaviorisme
