Company ethos
a company ethos is a set of values and beliefs that is set by a company. These are
most commonly shown in a statement, the statement is used to communicate the
objectives of the company to the stakeholders, it is also used to be able to help the
employees by giving them a guide of what to follow. A company ethos can change
how a company works or produce their products, a company ethos could be to
become more environmentally friendly and have environmental awareness
Company ethos can have a big change in products such as if The ulster folk and
transport museum want to be more socially responsible they will have to change
their products as the products they might sell could be bad for the environment so
they would change their packaging of food/drinks that they sell to be more
environmentally friendly. They would also have to change their marketing to say that
they are now more environmentally friendly. So they would use that in the
advertisement campaigns to let their customer know that changes are being made
Consumer protection
Consumer protection is in reference to legislation, standards and codes of practise
that are put in place in order to protect any consumers from unfair trading, in 1987
the consumer protection act was passed that makes giving customer misleading
prices about goods and services a crime, such as if a company where to say that
they have wheelchair accessibility throughout their park and when you arrive there
isn't chair accessibility then that would be in breach of the customer protection act.
The ulster folk and transport museum are wheelchair accessible when they can be
but there are some mini houses that they are unable to make wheelchair accessible
and they have to make this clear when they are advertising or marketing. Companies
have to be careful when advertising as they have to follow consumer protection
rights, when advertisements companies are advertising they have to be careful on
what they say. Such as they aren't able to talk bad about another park or museum as
this is against the law, they also not allows to say that the folk museum has a petting
zoo and a swimming pool if they don't as that is false advertising, companies have to
follow these laws when handling data and advertising otherwise they could face legal
repercussions which could then ruin the business and they will get a bad name for
themselves. When they are talking to customers the ulster folk museum should
explain to them about the data protection principles and that when they are using
