Symptomen zijn:
Vermoeidheid, gewichtstoename, obstipatie, lichaamspijnen, koud hebben, levenloos haar,
vocht vasthouden, lagere mentale prestatie en depressie
Een schorre stem, onregelmatige of zware menstruatie, onvruchtbaarheid, carpaal tunnel
syndroom en geheugenverlies of verwarring bij oudere mensen.
De symptomen worden in de loop van maanden of jaren erger naarmate de
thyroxinespiegel in het lichaam verder daalt.
