Assignment 2 unit 20
Introduction
In this assignment I will be writing a report on tesco and how this business has
sought recognition from third party and how it has benefitted their reputation.
After that I will be explaining the potential drawbacks of the CSR policy of tesco.
Next I have to investigate the benefits of CSR policy of tesco. After I’ve done that, I’m
going to analyse the competetive advantage gained by tesco and as a result of its CSR
activities and it’s recognition by an external body.
Lastly for the report I will be evaluating the role a CSR policy, and recognition by an
external body, has played in assisting with organisational change for tesco.
Therefore I’ve chosen to write about tesco in this assignment as they are a successful
retail store and British largest retailer and the world’s third largest grocery retailer
with outlets across Europe, USA and Asia.
Tesco has 460.000 employees worldwide and 7.000 stores around the world.
P5. Explain why a selected business has sought recognition from a third
party and how this has enhanced and benefitted their reputation.
Tesco was one of the first retailer who support fairtrade when it launched in 199.
Since then tesco has been offering and selling lots of products from fairtrade certified
products.
Fairtrade is a trading between countries and producers in developing countries.
Fairtrade is more like an organized social movement and market based approach
which goal is to help producers in the developing countries as I mentioned to to get
better trading conditions and more.
Fairtrade works with consumers, campaigners and businesses.
Their mission is to “connect disadvantaged farmers and workers with consumers,
promote fairer trading conditions and empower farmmeres and workers to combat
poverty, strenghten their position and take more control of their lives” which they
say on fair trades own website.
Fairtrade before partnering up with a business own sustainability scheme they first
compare the way the scheme works to a set of core fairtrade principles.
