Introduction - In this report description on how marketing techniques are used to market
products in two organisations, with also a comparison in the marketing techniques used in
marketing products in the two organisations, with an evaluation of the effectiveness of the
use of techniques in a market in one of the organisations.
The two organisations chosen within this report are Coca Cola and Tommy Hilfiger.
Coca-Cola- is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company, whereas
Tommy Hilfiger is an American premium clothing company, manufacturing apparel, footwear,
accessories, fragrances, and home furnishings
P1 – Description of how marketing techniques are
used to market products in two organisations.
Market penetration
The first marketing technique that both organisations use for marketing their
products is called, market penetration. This marketing technique refers to the
organisation selling their existing products into existing markets in the hope of
succession of selling their product in a specific market in order to penetrate the
market.
Market penetration in Coca Cola is used for marketing their products through many
forms in order to penetrate the market effectively and at a large scale, such as when
Coca-Cola proceeded to start a “Share a Coke” campaign where they put people’s
names on their bottles as a way of penetrating the market through their existing
products, because through this way, the customers of Coca Cola are more interested
and intrigued within the existing product, causing the customer to purchase the Coca
Cola product, leading to success for Coca Cola.
In addition, another market penetration method used by Coca Cola would be when the
organisation decided to use song lyrics on the bottles, telling its customers to “Share a Coke
and a Song.” The diversity of lyrics contains a factor we can all relate to, with quotes from
songs like Queen’s “We Are the Champions,” Randy Newman in Toy Story’s “You have got
