During my training at the EGC of Lille, I had the opportunity to do an international internship
to improve a foreign language, to discover new cultures and other methods of management.
It’s important for an EGC’s student to discover foreigner companies methods of management.
I chose Crete, an island of Greece to do this internship because it’s a region which attracts
tourists and this company had already welcomed some students from EGC’s school. Also,
Iberostar is one of the biggest hotel chains in the world with a great fame. I knew if I work in
a hotel I could met a lot of people who came from everywhere in the world, learnt a new job,
and discovered news cultures (by guests and employees). Moreover, the catering and hotel
services, it’s the main industry which employed foreign students, so it was easier to find an
internship in this industry. I chose the Iberostar hotel because it’s a famous hotel chain which
has a good services reputation for their guests everywhere it implanted.
This internship was important to know if I was able to adapt myself very quickly in an
unknown industry in a foreigner country and to improve my skills and my learning.
So, I worked in this famous company during more than 13 weeks (minimal compulsory time
by EGC), that is from the 24th of June 2013 to the 30th of September 2013. At the beginning, I
worked as a waitress and then I was receptionist for the last month.
To begin this internship report, I introduce the Iberostar Company and Iberostar Creta
Panorama where I realized my internship. Then, I explain my work, my everyday life, my
living there and my analysis about the culture and Greek management.
