Nursing Care of Children Capstone;
The nurse is teaching the parents of an infant with tonsillitis caused by group A ß-

Tonsillitis or inflammation of the tonsils caused by beta-hemolytic streptococci or streptococcus pyogenes is otherwise known as acute tonsillopharyngitis, bacterial. In starting antibiotic therapy for acute tonsillopharyngitis, the parents of the patient must known that the etiologic agent of the disease is a bacteria that’s why an antibiotic is needed for treatment. The nurse should also inform the parents the most probable adverse effects of the antibiotic for the parents to be aware also the nurse must inform the parents about antibiotic resistance because patients opt -to stop antibiotic therapy after feeling well, without completing the complete course of antibiotics. Chronic infected tonsils with GABHS may pose a potential threat to other parts of the body. Some children who frequently have tonsillitis may develop things such as rheumatic fever and kidney infections. Seek medical attention when child presents with manifestations of tonsillitis
