P1 - Describe four physical and four behaviouralindicators of possible child abuse
Physical Indicators of child abuse
There are for types of child abuse and these are physcial abuse, sexual abuse,
emotional abuse and child abuse.
Child abuse - Child abuse is the il - treatment or harm inflicted on a child or young
person, either delibertaley or either through neglect, which impairs or damages the
child or young persons health, welfare and also development.
The four physical indicators of child abuse or neglect are the child or young person
always being tired when coming to nursery, commenst coming from the child or
young person saying that no one at home is looking after them. Poor hygiene such
as the child or young person's clothes constantly being dirty, the child or young
person having matted hair, the child’s skin not being clean and body odour. The child
having malnutrition so the child or young person begging, stealing or hoarding food.
The four behavioural indicators of child abuse or neglect in a child or young person
are that the child or young person will try to avoid any touching or physical contact,
the child or young person will refuse to go hme from nursery when it is time to get
picked up, the child or young person will not be wearing clothes that match the
weather such as long sleeve tops on a hot day to cover up bruises, notwearing a
coat to nursery constantly in the winter. The child will always seem to be on high
alert and the child withdrawn themselves from their friends and activities.
Physical abuse - Physical abuse is a non - accidental injury it is out of control
punishments to the child or young person such as shaken baby syndrome, deliberate
harm to the child or young person and also torture.
The four physical indicators of physical abuse in a child or young person are burns
on the child or young person from cigarettes that cannot be explained, injuries on the
child or young person that are at different stages of healing, medical or dental issues
that go untreated, bruises or welts on the child or young person or other injuries that
cannot be explained or do not match with the story that the child has told.
The four behavioural indicators of physical abuse in a child or young person are that
the child or young person does not like to be touched or avoids any physical contact
as much as possible, the child or young person constantly being tired, unusual
behaviour such as being irritated, the child or young person not eating properly.
, Sexual abuse - Incest which is sexual acts on a child or young person from who
they are related to and under the age of consent, sexual acts such as buggery/rape
and oral sex and exposure, the use of sexually expilcit language, the child being
exposed to pornographic materials, pornography or videoing of children for sexual
gratification.
The four indicators of physical sexual abuse in a child or young person are the child
or young person may be having problems at school such as the child or young
person having difficulties concentrating and learning and their grades may start to
drop. The child or young person might start giving clues such as dropping hints like
indicating it is happening but not openly saying it. The child or young person may
start to have physical problems such as the child or young person developing health
problems including soreness in the genetial area and anal areaor sexually
transmitted infections or they may become pregnant.
The four behavioural indicators of sexual abuse in a child or young person are the
child or young person starts to behave different such as the child or young person
being aggressive, withdrawn, clingy, having difficulties sleeping, having regular
nightmares and wettig the bed. Avoiding the abuser by the child or young person
disliking them or may seem afraid of their presence and try to avoid being alone with
them. Sexually inappropriate behaviour such as them using inappropriate language

Emotional abuse - Emotional abuse is withdrawn of emotion and love, isolation,
name calling, ridiculing, threatening behaviour towards the child or young person,
humiliating the child, traumatising the child through one or more forms of either
abuse or torture.
The four physical indicators of emotional abuse in a child or young person are that
they child or young person will constantly have a fear of doing something wrong, the
child or young person i'll have speech problems or delays in the child or young
person’s learning and emotional development, the child or young person doesn't
seem close to their parent or caregiver, the child or young person will show very little
interest in their friends and also activities they do.
The four behavioural indicators of emotional abuse in a child or young person are
that the child or young person being way too obedient or way too demanding, the
child or young person may seem depressed or have low self-esteem, when the child
or young person is playing their behaviour may model or copy negative behaviour
and language used at home, the child or young person may display attention seeking
behaviours or displays extreme inhibition in play.
