Dear. Mrs Rios-Harris
I hope this letter finds you well. Looking back at the beginning of the semester, I admit I was
not too fond of your class because I felt like it was one of those boring lessons that I had to
attend, listen and go off to other classes that I preferred. Over time my perception of your
class changed tremendously; I began enjoying the class more than I ever thought I would. All
this was courtesy of your interesting personality, delivery mode, and admirable eloquence.
Not only were you confident in what you were saying, but you made everything enjoyable
and thought-provoking. My view of argument at the beginning of the semester was basic and
almost non-existent, but as we speak, I have to say I have in-depth knowledge and experience
on how to argue out my points and ideas, be it orally or on paper, and for that, I am really
grateful. I have learned that arguments usually have statements, a conclusion and must
always contain at least one premise. Your class on a critical thinker's traits was greatly
impactful; I have been practising to adopt some of those traits to improve my critical thinking
skills. Your teachings on the different fallacies made me comprehend critical thinking and
arguments from a different perspective. Your class has helped me learn the value of
appreciating different world views and not block my mind to new information. In addition,
my communication skills have improved greatly, courtesy of your classes. I will be able to
interact more effectively with people from different walks of life when I get to the job market
due to learning the value of listening to others. Your class will have also enabled me to
become a better decision-maker. I will be a great problem solver when I graduate to the job
market because of understanding the concepts of reasoning and logic instead of emotions
when solving problems. Your class has helped me take a keen interest in writing since I am
now well aware of articulating my thoughts and organising them to ensure there is flow in my
arguments. You have taught me the benefit of doing proper research before writing or
problem-solving. Before, I would go straight into writing, problem-solving, or decision-
making without doing some background research. Nowadays, I plan for research before
undertaking any of my assignments or making important life decisions both inside and
outside school. Thank you for being patient and teaching me some of the most valuable life
lessons that I will carry with me beyond school.
Yours Faithfully,
