Women in present society

Women are less privileged in the current society. Gender equality has made headway

over the centuries, thus placing women in a better social position today. Perhaps women have

some advantages over men, though they are limited to a particular group. Reid and Marion (20)

argue that women face several challenges more often than men, thus making them

disadvantaged. Some of these problems include sexual violence, domestic abuse, and gender

bias.

Sexual violence and harassment is a recurrent breach of women rights; that is to say,

rape, sexual assault, consent issues are daily basis crimes in the present society. As a result of

these overwhelming acts of humiliation, women currently live with fear (Reid and Marion 20).

Moshi and Lioba in their research paper (65) states that women are limited in doing some

activities due to fear of sexual discrimination; thus they are grabbed of such privileges. In the

case of sexual violation, women are regarded as responsible for their weak move against the

action; in other words, women are less considered. Notably, the effect of this crimes are

vulnerability, guilt, isolation, depression, stress and confusion ( Moshi and Lioba 65).

Primarily, gender bias is a recurring act in most sectors of life, majorly: employment,

education, and politics. Firstly: technical jobs such as sophisticated engineering has no allocation

for women owing to the fact that women are weak and less educated. Secondly, education

inequality is a significant challenge to women today. Despite the modern feminist movements

held globally, many people still believe that women are not worthy of having the same education

opportunities as men; this prompt lack of respect to women (Reid and Marion 20). Thirdly,

political discrimination; women have no honour in power. According to Franceschet et al. (7),
