inform employee development.
Measuring and managing performance is incredibly important to maintain the amount of
work provided by employees. The measurements and management methods use to
maintain performance can actually allow employees to develop their own skills and abilities
so that they are able to perform better. In this assignment, the results of measuring and
managing performance that inform employee development are to be explained.
One way these results can inform employee development is that these results are able to
provide employees with various goals and objectives to further improve their skills and
knowledge. Methods of performance measurement like SMART targets or goal theories can
all impact employee development as they are clear and reasonable targets that can be
achieved, as well as having the additional benefit of improving the skills and abilities of the
workforce, thereby increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of employees, making the
business more profitable. An instance of Monoux doing this is that teachers can set
themselves personal goals and targets in order to become more motivated and determined,
meaning that they will work harder, which will increase employee performance, for which it
can be measured due to the use of SMART targets and goal theories, which are methods in
performance measurement. This is incredibly beneficial towards employee development as
the college is able to improve overall since all Monoux employees will work harder, and in
turn will develop in terms of their work ethic and their skills and knowledge.
Another technique in which these results can contribute to the development of employees
is through observation of employees. Business management are able to see the
performance of all employees, in order to see who is working hard and performing well, and
who isn’t. This allows supervisors to implement further training on those who are not
performing well in order to increase the capacity of their skills and knowledge in order to
increase productivity and overall performance. Using performance indicators, which is a
method of performance measurement, the level of performance found between employees
can be used to determine who needs more training to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Monoux does this by observing lessons, and seeing which students are getting more pass
rates in certain classes. Furthermore, complaints from students about teachers can allow
supervisors to either change teachers with better experience, meaning there is a better
likelihood of better performance, or train teachers more to develop their skills to ensure
that students are able to receive better grades and pass rates, which determines
performance since pass rates is one of the performance indicators used to measure
performance.
Furthermore, another reason as to how the results of performance management and
measurement are related to employee development is due to the fact that employers will
be able to see the difference in performance from employees within equidistant
observations in order to analyse whether or not employees have been performing better
and working harder after using methods to maintain and increase performance such as
