Structuur, organisatie en embryologie van het centraal zenuwstelsel
De hersenen binnen in de schedel zijn erg verschillend per diersoort. De grote hersenen (cerebrum)
zijn bij de mens bijvoorbeeld erg groot en veel meer geplooid dan bij het rund. De hersenen worden
omgeven door hersenvliezen (meningen: dura mater, arachnoidea en pia mater). Verder weten van
anatomie: cerebrum, cerebellum, hersenstam, colliculi, pons, hypofyse, bulbus olfactorius, nervus
opticus, nervus trigeminus.
Als allereerst wordt de neurale buis gevormd. De chorda geeft signalen aan een deel van het
ectoderm voor differentiatie tot neuro-ectoderm. Het neuro-ectoderm gaat vervolgens naar binnen
vouwen en vormt een neurale plaat. Vervolgens vormt het een neurale buis waar het oppervlak
ectoderm overheen sluit (wanneer dit niet goed gebeurd → open rug/spina bifida).
