Planten beschermen zich door:
- mechanische afweer (stekels, huid, fysiek)
- chemische afweer (bittere/giftige stof, maag (zoutzuur))
- Combinatie (brandnetel)
Na vraat komen soms uit planten stoffen vrij waarop soortgenoten reageren
12.2 Bescherming
Bacteriën (hebben geen celkern)

12.3 Niet-specifieke afweer
= tweede afweersysteem
Virus: bestaat uit DNA of RNA met daaromheen een eiwitkapsel (en bij
dierlijke virussen nog een membraan met eiwitten daar omheen)
—> met die eiwitlaag plakt het virus zich aan receptormoleculen in het
membraan. Via endocytose neemt de gastheercel het virus op. Een-
maal binnen komt het DNA of RNA vrij.
RNA-virus: dit virus lijkt heel erg op het RNA van de mens. Van het
RNA-virus worden viruseiwitten gemaakt door de cel, want de cel weet
niet dat het eigenlijk een virus is. Na het afwerken van het virus verlaten
de virussen de cel. De cel gaat hierdoor dood. Doordat dit bij meerdere
cellen gebeurt, gaan er veel cellen dood en ondervindt het lichaam de gevolgen.
Virus in het bloed: de niet-specifieke afweer treedt op —> witte bloedcellen en bloedeiwitten
maken de vreemde deeltjes onschadelijk (ruimt op)
