De Eerste wereldoorlog (WOI)● 1914: Servië vindt dat Bosnië bij Servië hoort en niet bij O-H (Oostenrijk-Hongarije).
● 28 juni 1914: Franz Ferdinand (troonopvolger van O-H) wordt doodgeschoten door Servische
nationalisten → directe aanleiding WOI.
● 28 juli: O-H verklaart de oorlog aan Servië. → Duitsland steunt O-H.
→ Rusland steunt Servië.
● 4 augustus 1914: Duitsland verklaart de oorlog aan Frankrijk en vlak daarna ook aan Rusland →
ontstaat een tweefrontenoorlog.
● april 1917: V.S sluit zich aan bij de geallieerden.
● Eind 1917: Rusland trekt zich terug uit WOI.
● 11 november 1918: Duitsland geeft zich over → einde WOI
