Introduction

Working with different cultures can be difficult but rewarding. The key to working

with a different culture is to develop an understanding of that culture. The teams deployed by

AlternativeSource Inc. (ASI) will have to work through challenges to reach their clients in

India. Not only will the team have to work through these challenges, but their families will

have to adapt to the culture as well.

Identified Problems

There are multiple problems that are preventing ASI from being successful in India.

The first is that Jorge hired people he knew previously, all of whom are from North

America. We can assume that India is a third country. Jorge did not hire anyone from India

or with an Indian background. There was also no cultural adaptation training performed for

the teams and their families.

Team Management

Jorge is currently making all the decisions for the teams and offering very little

autonomy. This will be counterproductive to the teams’ success. Jorge should be making

large, big picture decisions but the day-to-day operations should all be ran by the team itself.

This will make each team more efficient at meeting their clients’ needs.
