Introduction
The purpose of taking this self-assessment to identify management aptitude test is to
report which skills out of Conceptual, Human and Technical are the weakest and the
strongest. As an employee looking to becoming a manager, the workforce is changing
drastically. The question that comes to my mind “Am I ready to be a manager?” Well before
taking the aptitude my views were different compared to after the test! Considering my skills,
I thought I was ready to become an entrepreneur and build a successful company. Taking the
appropriate steps to build my skills to becoming a supervisor that I am today, gives me the
courage to take the Daft aptitude test.
The Aptitude test can give the individual an understanding about which skills they
need to work on to become better a manager in the workforce. Each section shows
strength and weaknesses, and this gives the manager something to look forward too.
A higher conceptual score for a manager will have a strong strategical thinking,
problem solver, and can see the vision better than most. A higher human score for a
manger will have the capability to work with others, and more successfully as a group
(team) member. A higher technical score for a manager will have the capacity with
more automated tasks.
, Results
My results were as followed 19 Conceptual, 1 Human, and 18 Technical. These results
were not what I expected. I expected my human skills would have been higher than what it
was, because I enjoy helping people and I like to work in groups and train people when
needed. After evaluating each skill, I concluded that I am good with computers, math and
science so I do believe that my test results are true. When depending heavily on the test
results a person really does not think about which skills are higher than others until the test
is taken. I just assumed I was better at working with others in a group than with computers
and over time things have really changed. We are in an age were virtual learning does strain
our human skills or social skills.
Relatively that does show me where I am strong and where I am weak with this test.
Reading some of the questions that Daft had on the test at first, I was thinking why this
question and what does it have to do with this test. Daft mostly knew what he was doing to
have the test structured the way he did. Being in the pharmaceutical industry, My job entails
sending emails. I feel the most that I do is send emails to doctors or other team members
about how they need to get the prescription out and what the prescription is. With my
position, I will need to learn different parts of this new organization. I have some good
leadership qualities but not actual managerial experience in my industry.
Interpretation
Having a higher technical skill as my strength is great for when I need to work with new
software’s or any technologist issuers, or with finance questions. This test has given me an
opportunity to understand the idea of the future with others and their concepts which I can
learn from this class. In addition, it allows me to share our views on different businesses and
projects, meetings, and news related to my classmates. Being open to learning new skills
