Abstract
In deze studie is onderzocht wat het verschil is in reactietijd tussen congruente en
incongruente condities. Volgens het Simon Effect is de reactietijd op congruente condities
sneller dan op incongruente condities. Dit onderzoek moet aantonen in hoeverre het Simon
Effect merkbaar is bij mensen in de Nederlandse maatschappij. Dit is getest door het afnemen
van een online test bij 15 participanten. De resultaten zijn geanalyseerd en verwerkt met
behulp van een Paired Samples T-test. De resultaten waren significant en komen overeen met
de hypothese en de huidige literatuur over dit onderwerp en suggereren dat het Simon Effect
inderdaad aanwezig is onder de Nederlandse bevolking. Doordat er sprake is van
methodologische tekortkomingen is het echter van belang dat er grootschalig
vervolgonderzoek wordt gedaan, zodat onjuiste conclusies worden uitgesloten.
