First Activity
a) A dictionary activity, for vocabulary and dictionary skills development AFTER your class has read or listened to
your selected text. You may follow your comprehension lesson with this activity or use it later in another lesson.

Name of Activity: Dictionary Quiz
Time: 15 – 20 minutes
Aims:
 To build on students’ autonomy on dictionary usage.
 To consolidate the meanings of words in different linguistic forms.
 To contextualise new vocabulary through integration with dictionary work.

Teacher’s Instructions:
 Show the video clip (twice if needed) to the students
 Get students to work independently.
 Hand out worksheets to each student.
 Explain instructions for quiz.
 Monitor and help if needed.
 Set the timeframe
 Obtain feedback at end of activity.
 Drill key words and emphasise pronunciation.
 Test for understanding.

Materials provided by Teacher:
 Worksheets-dictionary quiz
 Transcript of video clip
 Laptop to show video clip(4minutes, 16 seconds) (if done at a later lesson, if students request)
