The third category I have chosen is Advertising. I have chosen the Nike

commercial “Dream Crazy”. Advertising often uses techniques of psychological

pressure to influence decision-making. Ads may appeal to vanity, insecurity, prejudice,

Nike is an American multinational corporation that is engaged in the design, development,

manufacturing, and worldwide marking and sales of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories,

and services. Nike was founded in 1964 in Eugene, OR. (Read Nike's Mission Statement and

Find Information About Nike, INC. Innovation, Sustainability, Community Impact, and More,

n.d.) An important part of maintaining a consistent brand is preserving the emotional

attachment consumers have to that brand. Just as PR campaigns build brands, PR crises can

damage them. (Eyada, 2020) Nike is well known for its heartfelt messages to not only athletes

but to the whole world. With this ad Nike's earnings reported a staggering $790 million loss.

continued to Dream Crazy.

This ad premiered in September 2018 and narrated by former NFL player and current civil

rights activist Colin Kaepernick. This ad has several athletes, some had disabilities, and some

were doing more than one sport, but all were crushing it and obtaining the goals they set out for.

This ad also featured Lebron James professional basketball play that is widely considered one of

the greatest NBA players in history and Serena Williams American professional tennis player

and former world number one in women’s tennis. The ad states while showing Serena Williams

playing tennis, “If you’re a girl from Compton don’t just become a tennis player, become the

greatest athlete ever, yeah that’s more like it”. This woman made it, she worked hard and lived
