elke tekst?
1. Weber – The bureaucratic machine
De bureaucratische machine is een denkwijze die, evenals de industriële revolutie, snel is op komen
zetten en heeft geleid tot een nieuwe manier van de indeling van organisatie en hun management.
Hierbij zijn efficiëntie, consistentie en uniformiteit de doelen. Deze worden getracht te behalen door
sterke specialisatie (en afbakening) van taken, een duidelijke hiërarchie en het gebruik van
schaalvoordelen. Het model is op grote schaal toepasbaar, voor (bijna) alle maten van organisaties en
allerlei verschillende organisaties (zowel publiek als privaat).
2. Weber - The spirit of capitalism and the iron cage
Tijd is geld. Krediet is geld. Met geld kan je geld maken. Het streven naar steeds meer geld doet men
in een ijzeren kooi belanden. Omdat je geen spontane betalingen doet, mis je plezier in je leven. Het
is belangrijker om geld te verdienen en te hebben dan om geld uit te geven.
Baxter’s visie: Het streven naar externe dingen moet een lichte mantel zijn die men ten alle tijden
makkelijk kan afdoen. Maar wat bleek, de mantel werd een ijzeren kooi.
Vandaag de dag streeft men naar externe goederen zoals men nog nooit heeft gedaan. Niet het
calvinisme maar het kapitalisme lijkt hier de oorzaak van.
