As a major corporation agrees to sponsor an internal study on sexual harassment in the
workplace it is identified that there is plenty of ways to handle these kinds of investigations. The
initiation of the study is in response to concerns expressed by its female employees and the
willingness to further investigate the dilemma that may bring about lawsuits and other
inconvenient and discriminatory issues within the corporation. “Harassment is degrading,
frightening, and sometimes physically violent; frequently extends over a considerable period of
time; and can result in profound job-related, psychological, and health-related consequences”
(Fitzgerald, 1993)
Therefore, as a corporation it is extremely wise to take such accusations very serious and
an action plan must always be in place for these implications happen more often than known
about. The reason for the unknown times is because women are humiliated, intimidated and or
sometimes put in very uncomfortable situations when bringing such things into light.
If I was apart of the corporation that was conducting these studies, I would handle the
communication approach very strategically. In this case we have several options such as self-
administer, telephone and personal interview. I would prefer using a self-administer and
personal interview because of the mixed approach and advantages that it gives the company. We
