5.3 Assimilatie en DissimilatieGaswisseling
De opname van gassen = gaswisseling. Planten gebruiken hier huidmondjes voor.
Van al het water wat een plant opneemt wordt er maar een klein deel gebruikt voor
koolstofassimilatie en celstrekking, de rest verdampt.
Chlorofyl
De groene delen van een plant bevatten chlorofyl. Dit absorbeert verschillende
golflengten ( ook wel verschillende kleuren ) uit het zichtbare licht. Wij zien planten
dan ook groen omdat chlorofyl de golflengte met de kleur groen reflecteert.
Assimilatie en Dissimilatie
De intensiteit van de fotosynthese= de snelheid waarmee de glucose wordt
gevormd en zuurstof vrijkomt. Deze is afhankelijk van o.a. hoeveelheid en kleur van
het licht, beschikbare CO2 en H2O, de temperatuur en hoeveelheid chlorofyl. De
uiteindelijke intensiteit wordt echter wel bepaald door de minst gunstige factor, dit
heet de beperkende factor. ( Bij aerobe dissimilatie, verbranding, wordt lichtintensiteit
vaak achterwege gelaten ).
Doordat een deel van de O2 die vrijkomt bij de fotosynthese ook weer wordt gebruikt
bij aerobe dissimilatie is de intensiteit van fotosynthese niet rechtstreeks te bepalen.
Er zijn hier wel een aantal manieren voor bedacht.
Opslag van assimilatie producten
Meestal wordt er overdag meer glucose gemaakt dan dat er weer gebruikt wordt bij
dissimilatie. Dit overschot wordt gebruikt voor opbouw en herstel van de plant en
voor de vorming van reservestoffen. Bij voortgezette assimilatie wordt dit dan ook
voornamelijk omgezet in koolhydraten, vetten en eiwitten. Veel wordt ook omgezet in
zetmeel, dit voorkomt dat de osmotische waarde teveel stijgt.
