Cancer is the name given to a collection of related diseases. In all types of cancer, some
of the body’s cells begin to divide without stopping and spread into surrounding tissues (Tesfaw,
& Muluneh 2020). The pathophysiology of cancer is the damage to the genetic apparatus of
cells in mutation, disturbance of gene expression, activation of tumor promoter and inactivation
of tumor suppressor genes to name a few. It has been recorded that that damage to the genetic
apparatus of the cell along with inactivation of anti-tumor genes takes place and is essential for
the development of malignant tumors. National Cancer Institute (2021) reports that the
inactivation of tumor suppressor gene is one of the natural physiological reactions of the
organism, and when this reaction becomes pathophysiological condition of an organism it
results in cancer development National Cancer Institute (2021). The clinical manifestation is
fatigue, lump or area of thickening that can be felt under the skin, weight changes, including
unintended loss or gain, skin changes, such as yellowing, darkening or redness of the skin, sores
that will not heal, or changes to existing moles, and changes in bowel or bladder habits. The
diagnostic methods use to are blood work, biopsy, Ct scan, Pet scan, MRI, MRA. Once the
cancer can be identified, treatment can begin. Treatments are, but not limited to chemotherapy,
radiation, and surgical intervention. Some patients take the holistic approach of diet change and
not receive the above-mentioned treatments.
