Several myths regarding Solar Power as an alternative energy source permeate today’s

political climate. Some of the myths stem from concerns founded on the initial and maintenance

cost, Solar Power effectiveness and more importantly, its impacts on the environment. Solar

power’s concerns have led to robust investigations that expose various facets of this energy

source. Previous research has focused more primarily on the physical component of Solar Power

such as photovoltaic, solar grid and systems integration. Similarly, studies have been done

independently on Solar Power’s impact on individual aspects of society, however, drawing from

these findings, this paper intentionally examines the ethicality of Solar Power Energy and

intricately assesses its impact on these integral components of society and on the environment as

a whole. Undoubtedly, these researches have implications on the future use of Solar Power

Energy. Consequently, this paper presents convincing data, which settles the ethical concerns

surrounding this energy source, and emphatically presents it as the most worthwhile option.

Have you ever wondered what life would be like if what we call home was to finally

succumb to climate change? If climate change has been gnawing at our very existence for that

long, why then is the controversy about who is to be blamed? Shouldn't the debate be about steps

to mitigate it? The evidence is undeniable: from wildfires to longer drought periods, from the

intensity of tropical storms to pollution, our planet has seen a mass depletion of resources. But

what are the answers we seek and are there available options? Part of the answer lies in our

proactiveness to take responsibility for our actions and solicit ways to rid our planet of this evil.

It is therefore important to consider clean renewable energy sources and more specifically Solar

Power as the answer. Irrevocably, the significant advancements in Solar Power, its abundance,

low cost and safety for the environment make it the most worthwhile option.


Solar Power Energy is the process by which the energy from the sun is captured and

ultimately converted into electricity. In the light of the daunting reports and evidence of climate

change, this paper exposes the fundamental truths about Solar Energy and its positive impact on

our environment, and presents it as the best alternative source:


Research shows that air pollution is significantly contributing to increased levels of

greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere, reducing air quality, affecting our health detrimentally, and

contributing to more extreme weather events. With 31% of greenhouse gas emissions in the USA

coming from electricity production, a switch to solar power would have a massive impact on

reducing air pollution (Curran, 2019).

, The US which is predominantly known for its leadership in several technological

advancements embarked on a solar use campaign to mitigate air pollution; according to the US


Department of Energy, “a clean energy revolution is taking place across America, underscored by

the steady expansion of the U.S. renewable energy sector” (U.S Department of Energy). Sure

enough this revolution occurred in the first quarter of 2014 with Solar Energy astoundingly being

the energy source of choice. (see fig.1) This move had far reaching effects because many

developed and developing countries look to the US as a model for economic growth. The fact

that this super power continues to promote the use of Solar Power is indicative that this form of

energy is indeed the right choice.

, The researchers use evidence such as the fore going to answer relevant questions such as

what are the environmental, cultural, political, economical and social impacts of Solar Power

Energy on society. It clarifies myths and doubts and makes its fundamental proposal on the basis

that Solar Power Energy is a clean renewable energy source that is effective in reducing carbon

dioxide emissions, and decreases the harmful impacts on the natural environment. Additionally,

it makes this argument against the backdrop of the ethical concerns that critics present and

irrefutably, with convincing data and statistics silences their claims.


The historical timeline of Solar Power Energy that details key predecessors and

ideologies, which are foundational to it, and assesses how these technologies influenced its

development is outlined. The researchers present its cost effectiveness and use credible sources

of charts and diagrams to support their claim. Critical terms are defined and an enticing

evaluation of the ethical considerations associated with Solar Power Energy, in relation to its

impact on humanity is underscored.

Though the sun has shone overhead from the very existence of man, it wasn’t until the

last few hundred years that it being converted into electricity became a reality. The era of solar

cell technology or photovoltaic (PV) technology began in 1839 with Alexandre Edmond

Becquerellar, a French physicist in a decade where the US comprised only 26 states. However

with a consistent development of this useful technology, Solar Power became a household name

in 1954. “Energy security has an important hearing on achieving national economic

developmental goals and improving the quality of life of the people considering the increase in

global warming and its harmful emissions. Solar energy is considered as an absolute clean and

safe energy source” (Ashna, Priya, & Gayathri, 2020).
