Present simple, Permanente situatie (feit) of gewoonte.
He, she en it: + -s
Ontkenning: don’t / doesn’t
Vragen / korte antwoorden: do /does (n’t)
Onregelmatige werkwoorden 1ste rijtje
Bij he, she of it woorden die eindigen op –s, -sh, -ch, -x worden -ies
Voorbeelden:
I work She works They work
I don’t work on Monday
When does school start?
I usually leave the house at 7.15.
Future (simple), voorspelling, belofte of besluit in de toekomst.
Normaal: Will
Ontkenning: won’t
Bij onregelmatige werkwoorden 3de rijtje
Voorbeelden:
I will work They will work She will work

What will you do when you are in London? (vragende zin met als onderwerp you)

verleden.
Normaal: had(n’t) been…ing
* Voor de gebeurtenis die het kortste duurt gebruikt men de past simple en voor de gebeurtenis die het langste
duurt de past continuous.
* Voor handelingen / situaties die voor een andere gebeurtenis plaatsvonden.
Voorbeeld:
He told me he had been waiting for an hour.
We were lying on the beach when it started to rain.
He was talking to Sheila when I saw him.
Present continuous, de handeling is nu aan de gang.
Normaal: am/is/are + werkwoord + -ing
Ergernis: + ‘always’
* Toekomstige activiteiten die al gepland zijn.
Voorbeeld:
I am working You are working They are working
Tomorrow I’m painting the kitchen
She is waiting for her son.
Present perfect continuous, handeling duurt bijna tot nu, of langer.
Normaal: have / has been….ing
Voorbeeld:
I’ve been living here for a long time. (woon er nu nog steeds)
We have been writing Christmas cards.
* Voor handelingen die tot in het heden kunnen voortduren.
* Benadrukt de duur, maar zegt niet of de handeling is voltooid.
Past continuous, handeling was op dat moment aan de gang.
Normaal: was / were + ing
Ontkenning: wasn’t / weren’t + ing
Vraag: were…
* tijdelijke situaties in het verleden
* handelingen of gebeurtenissen die in het verleden op dat moment aan de gang was.
* bij 2 na elkaar gebeurende gebeurtenissen = past simple
Voorbeeld:
It was raining when i left the office.
I wasn’t watching tv.
Were you coocking? (stond jij te koken)
