• INTRODUCTION
• Establish your viewpoint in the introduction and continue to address the question
directly throughout your essay.
• Agree or disagree with the given statement.
• Identify Design movements that could echo, as well as movements that could
seemingly be in opposition, to the given theme/quote.
• BODY
• Discuss these movements and reflect how each designer’s intention would have
impacted on the given statement. Keep the theme in mind.
• Refer to the influences, aims, characteristics and stylistic features of each
movement.
• Discuss one designer from each movement.
• Refer to TWO works by each designer to substantiate your discussion and for the
purpose of analysis.
• Underline the names of designers and designs.
• Make use of relevant design terminology throughout the essay – superior terms /
concepts underlined with (bracket definition).
