This newborn should receive the hepatitis B within 24 hours of birth. The

Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends that all medically

stable infants weighing greater than 2,000 grams receive 0.5 ml the first dose of the

hepatitis B vaccine to prevent spread of Hepatitis B infection. (Center for Disease

Control and Prevention, 2020).
