-ESCAPE FROM PRETORIA-
Dear reader,
My name is Willem and I watched the film called Escape from Pretoria. I would like
to share my experiences about the film. Where is the film about?, Would I
recommend the film to my friends or family? And most important: What is my
opinion about Escape from Pretoria.
First things first, where is the film Escape from Pretoria about?
The film is directed by Francis Annan and came out in 2020, The whole film is
based on a book from Tim Jenkin. The story is about the escape from three
politician prisoners from a South African prison. Two of them have been arrested
after distributing flyers from the African National Congress. The two men were
sentenced to 12 and 8 years in prison and served their sentences in Pretoria prison.
In this prison they met an inmate, Leonard Fontaine. Together with Denis, the
three are going to try to escape from prison. Together with the French Leonard, the
three self-made wooden keys know their way out and thus also find their freedom.
Now is it clear where the film is about, but what is my opinion about the story? And
would I recommend this film to others? When I watched the film, I almost
immediately thought it was a beautiful story, for me the story shows very well how
society in South Africa (in the past) was put together. How people try to resist and
how hard the government treated these people stimulated me to watch the film in
one go. I also find the way the film is put together positively distinctive from other
films where prisoners escape, usually a lot of violence is used, but that is not at all
in this film. So I can say that the film caught my attention, but if I had to
recommend a film to others, I don't know if I would recommend Escape from
Pretoria. The story is about politics, resistance and escape in which there is a lot of
action and tension in the story, not every viewer is interested in this, and I could
understand that this is already the case with this story.
The film is therefore about politics, resistance and escape with a lot of action and
tension in the story. I thought this was very good, but I could understand that
others would not find this very interesting. So if someone asks about a good film, I
would only recommend it if they are interested in these subjects that the film has.
However, I would personally rate the film with a good!
