1. We use the nominal scale to identify and categorize rather than indicate amounts

different from another individual. In this study, we are measuring and categorizing

the students’ feelings and how they differ from those of other students, and we are not

indicating numerical values.

3. In the study provided in this scenario, we will use the test of independence. This test

is also referred to as the two-way Chi-square. When we want to test whether

participants in one study are independent or dependent of participants in another

category, we use the two-way Chi-square (Heiman, 2015). In this particular scenario,

we are trying to determine if there is a relationship between the students’ academic

program, nursing or psychology, and their feelings, nervousness or excitement, prior

to starting their PSYC 3002 course.

4. The null hypothesis states that there is no relationship between the two variables,
