Summary of the review and my opinion
The reviewer named Elena Ferrante thinks that Elinor character is based on Jane
Austen, the writer of the book, herself. Her book is written from within a tradition that
allows her to express herself in the story. The story describes the male world that
arrays around income, where men are afraid to change and where they want to live
an idly life. It also describes the battle of women to win both men and money. The
book was published in 1811 and that was a time where the woman was cleaning and
cooking and the man was working, thinking about income and indeed living an idly
life. The woman couldn’t work and was dependent from the men’s income. Jane
Austen processed this lifestyle in the story very well which makes you feel like you’re
going back in time and like you live with the characters. Another important aspect in
this story is the relationship between the two sisters, like Elena Ferrante says. And I
couldn’t agree more, the relationship is so strong, despite their different personalities
they still have a strong bond. And everyone could relate to this, whether you have
sisters or not.

In this passage nothing special happened, but what I loved about this page was a
quote: ‘’Know your own happiness.’’. That’s what Mrs. Dashwood told Edward. He
didn’t want to leave them after visiting Barton Cottage for a week. Edward was a very
insecure man, before leaving he was concerned about having no occupations or
skills, thinking he would never be a succesfull man. And that is actually something we
all can relate to. You sometimes should have patience or like Mrs. Dashwood says
‘’call it hope’’. This quote is actually a very popular quote, but when you read it in the
story i twill get more meaningfull. You’ll read the story and understand what the quote
actually is about.
