Een voorwerp dat geluid maakt noem je een geluidsbron.
Er zijn twee verschillende geluidsbronnen:
1. Natuurlijke geluidsbronnen (voorwerpen niet door mensen
gemaakt). Voorbeelden zijn: je eigen stem, zingen van vogels.
2. Kunstmatige geluidsbronnen (voorwerpen door mensen
gemaakt). Voorbeelden zijn: muziekinstrumenten, vuurwerk,
luidspreker.
Geluid is een trilling
Geluid ontstaat door trillingen in een geluidsbron.
Bij je eigen stem, gaan de stembanden in je keel trillen
Bij een luidspreker, gaat de conus trillen.
Bij een gitaar gaan de snaren trillen.
Van geluidsbron naar je oren
Als een luidspreker geluid maakt, gaat de
conus heen en weer trillen. Er ontstaan
drukverschillen in de lucht.
Als de conus naar buiten beweegt, lucht
dichter op elkaar gedrukt, moleculen
dichter op elkaar, luchtdruk stijgt.
Als de conus naar binnen beweegt,
moleculen krijgen meer ruimte, luchtdruk daalt.
