1.Picture #1
The first drawing I believe is drawn by a child 3-4 in their early schematic representations. The artwork drawn is a face with clear emotion behind the eyes consisting of fire, and the mouth open as if they are about to scream and rage. During this period the child begins to form a realistic perception which I believe is shown through the fire and mouth. The horns also clarify there is no gender represented which leads me to believe they are in the 3–4-
year range. This piece makes me feel sad and angry at the same time. There is no joy in the picture as
it represents the devil who is related to evil, anger, and fire. There is a lot of emotion in this piece
that makes me feel extremely sad for the child who drew it. I feel a child should not feel this rage
at a young age. It amazes me that a child used art to get across their true feelings, and this was it. During this time these children are being rescued from their dangerous homes in Syria and sent to safer parts of Northern Europe. I find it unique that in the particular drawing the child
is angry and raged at the fact he’s leaving for his own safety. I understand leaving your home without wanting to can make you angry, but if the child only knew the safety that comes from what this organization was doing. This is an aspect that may be shown through many of the children’s artwork at this time as they do not understand fully what is going on. 2.Picture #2
In this second picture I believe a child ages 4-9 in their schematic representations stage drew this picture. There are two reasons that lead me to this. First, in this drawing there is a clear depiction of gender as there seems to be a mom, dad, and child. The drawing also consists of a realistic human figure with a body, head and hair. During the schematic representations stage, a child has the ability to decipher gender in which this child does. Lastly, the child seems to have written a word as this also shows they are older and have been educated.
This piece makes me feel happy as there is sunshine shining down on the family. I also enjoy
the multiple hearts drawn on what seems to be benches. The family is also sitting close together and have smiles on their faces which is much happier than the last picture shown. The picture is drawn precisely which allows me to believe they’re older and I enjoy how neat it is. I like this picture because of the scenario it is being drawn in; the child still seems to be happy. The happiness shown in this picture is very unique to a child who is being taken from their home and being sent to a foreign city. The outcome is beneficial for the children, but the children
are being taken away from their families. This child is drawing their family together and happy which is not the outcome happening. This artwork possibly shows the hopes of this child and dreams they can be a family again which is also very sad. This artwork carries a lot of emotion with it. 3.Picture #3
In the third picture, I believe the child is between the ages of 4-9 closer to 9 in the schematic representations stage. In this picture the writing and spelling leads me to believe they are older and able to read and write better. This child is also educated in the English language as they
