Technology
There are many ways to have meetings for example e-meetings so people can communicate over the
internet with other people without leave their office or country. Web and telephone conferences so
people can talk with each other by video call or just a voice call where everyone can hear each other.
Technology has affected the business travel environment because nowadays everyone uses
technology for everything, and people can communicate with each other even if they are in other
countries and they can talk with more than 2 people so that’s perfectly fine to do a web conference
because it easily and quicker and it saves their time because they don’t have to travel to the location
of the conference meeting so this expands the companies work productivity. It also saves on the
company money because they do not have to pay a conference room, food, equipment if need
it, accommodation and the transport for them to get to the meeting. Business travel agencies are
losing customers because it’s easier to research hotels, flights and locations of business meetings
without needing the help of a travel agent and they can find better deals and cheaper. Airlines,
hotels and trains are also losing customers because lots of business people are doing their meeting
via internet. Business travel agents are improving their technology and systems so they can offer
better deals for customers.
Health epidemics
Health epidemics affect the business travel environment because business people cant travel to
those areas or counties that are in red alert and this stops business people to travel and work. This
also affects because if they are holding a meeting or conference some people can attend and others
can’t. Covid19 has affected the business travel environment because they are not allowed to travel
to certain countries. This affects operational practices as travel agents had to change lots of bookings
and they lost money because some countries were restricted to travel.
Global economy
Exchange rates affects global economy because if the pound is weak then business people wont be
coming to the UK because it would be very expensive. Also if the pound is weak the fuel cost is
raised due to changes in the exchange rate and business people will have to pay more for fuel and it
makes more difficult for them to travel by car to attend meetings and
