PAKISTAN MY HOMELAND

Pakistan, officially
the Islamic Republic
of Pakistan, is a
country in South
Asia. It is the
world’s sixth most
populous country
with a population
exceeding 217
million people.
Pakistan was found
in 1947 and the
founder was
Muhammad Ali
Jinnah. The capital of Pakistan was Karachi as it is a major
sea port but the capital later changed to Islamabad. Pakistan
is the only country to have been created in the name of
Islam. As muslims wanted freedom from the Hindu and the
Sikhs. They wanted independence and wanted to form their
own individual country.

Before 1947, Pakistan was a part of India and the British empire. As the United Kingdom agreed
to the partitioning of India in 1947, the modern Pakistan was established on 14th August 1947,
amalgamating the Muslim majority in the eastern and north-western regions of British India.
People were killed in what some have described as a genocide between the religions while
50,000 Muslim women were abducted and raped by Hindu and Sikh men 33,000 Hindu and Sikh
women also experienced the same destiny at the hands of the Muslims. Around 6.5 million
Muslims moved from India to West Pakistan and 4.7 million. Hindus and Sikhs moved from
West Pakistan to India. Some Muslims were still left behind in India and some Hindus were left
in Pakistan. It was the largest mass migration in human history. After independence in 1947,
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the President of the Muslim League, became the nation’s first Governor-
General as well as the first President Speaker of the Parliament.
