Thoughts On Python
My journey with programming began with (C) 11 years ago (2010) in Bagram,
Afghanistan. That was a tuff time considering I had no idea on how to use the terminal or an
IDE and I began on a Mac (PC). After a few weeks I put my self taught thoughts on hold and
started school with the University of Phoenix (UoP). I did not get back around to
programming again until 2016, when I was taking a Java course. In fact, it was that course
that gave me the confidence to try and build my own application for Android.
It took me 3 months but I finally finished and published my first app January 17,
2017 in the Google Play store. From this experience I can attest that object-oriented
programming is a language that to me can afford a new comer a simple syntax (how the code
is written) that gives the programmer confidence early on with the speed at which they grasp the
material. Object-oriented programming also uses objects as the name suggests which lends itself
to reusable code blocks thus making it easier than other languages. This is just my personal
preference.
In regards to my current course CYB/130 (Python), it has been very beneficial for me
in terms of teaching me additional coding that in my current position of owning and operating
a mobile app software company where I have to continually learn and help to write and edit
code. I will say though that with the simple apps that I make what I
learned in this course is quite a bit more than what is needed to make the apps I make. I am
looking forward to seeing how the new coding I learned in python translates to Swift and Kotlin,
seeing as there all Object-Oriented and share the same concepts when it comes to lists, dicts, if-
else and most other things the only difference is the syntax.
