1. Economic policies are ideas to do with jobs, factories and
money.
2. The Nazi’s 4 aims were to get rid of unemployment,
rearmament, autarky, to be ready for war.
3. Dr Schaucht was in charge of the New Plan of 1933.
4.The New Plan was to reduce imports, they would trade butter
with Hungary in exchange for timber, money was put into certain
industries, but they weren’t controlling the industry.
Unemployment was reduced, Jews and women were sacked, men
joined the National Labour Service, which worked on public works
schemes and compulsory military service provided jobs.
5. The results were: Unemployment went down to 500,000 but
only some industries improved production (such as transport and
rearmament), government debt went up, people only got back up
to 1928 wages in 1937, Hitler wanted Germany to be ready for
war more easily, so Schaucht resigned in 1937 and was sent to a
concentration camp.
6. Herman Goerig was in charge of the Four Year Plan of 1937.
7. It worked because: Production of coal, oil, metal, iron ore and
explosives were increased, imports were reduced, there was
forced labour, wages and prices were carefully controlled. Big
businesses made synthetic rubber, fuel and textiles and to pay for
rearmament while large factories were built to make oil, rubber
and steel (or substitutes).
8. The results were: Wages didn’t go up, production of “war
goods” did increase, as did imports so Germany wasn’t yet self-
sufficient or ready for war in 1940, the only way for Germany to
become self-sufficient was to invade countries that had the raw
materials and food needed to go to war. There was a big shortage
of food, clothes and furniture.
9. !0 successes of Nazi economic politics are; 5 million people got
jobs and hope for the future, the rearmament and conscription
