, Question 1:

1.1 ICT tools that can be used to overcome linguistic barriers- there are many apps that are available
to students in order to learn a new language for example Babbel and Duolingual (Lingualift,
2020). There are online language tools such as Google translate, online thesaurus and an online
dictionary which can help students find the words that they are looking for or they can translate
a word from one language into another.

ICT tools that can be used to overcome geological barriers- students use Skype or Zoom (video
call app) to see their teachers and be a part of the lesson while they are not at the school. A
second tool that can be used is presentation apps such as Power point where the students can
make slides and present their work to the teacher.

1.2 To break down the linguistic barriers is to use apps such as Duolingo to learn a new language.
This is helpful to students who are not fluent in the language they are being taught. Therefore,
these language learning apps can allow students to get the extra practice they need and improve
the language difficulties they have. Secondly, using online resources such as google translate can
allow the students who speak a different language put their work into the language they are
being taught in. on the other hand, they can translate their work back into their home language
to better their understanding. Tools such as online dictionaries and thesauruses help students
find the words they are looking for or to improve their understanding of the meaning of words.
This benefits students who are not fluent in the language they are doing their schoolwork in.
Ways to break down the geological barriers was to use video conferencing apps such as Zoom
and Skype. These apps give students the opportunity to listen into the classroom lesson while
not being there. This breaks down the geological barriers as students can be far away from the
school but still actively be involved in the lessons. Lastly, presentation tools such as Power Point
allows students to create their presentations including voice overs and send them to the
teacher. An educator can then play the presentation as if the student did it in front of the class.
Therefore, students do not have to be at the school to learn or do presentations since
technology allows them the opportunity to be anywhere in the world and continue their
education.

Question 2:

2.(a) the types of ICT tools that I will use in my classroom is tablets, projector screens and
earphones.

(b) tablets- the subject it will be used for is Geography and the topic can be mapwork.

Projector screens- will be based about history and the topic will be World War Two.

Earphones- subject will be History and the topic will be about South African history.

(c) Tablet- there is some proof that by using multiple senses learners and educators benefit because
of the technological advanced learning method of the tablet. Students use their tables for visual
learning for example using Google maps for mapwork. Maps can also be downloaded to prevent the
use of paper. Tablets give students unlimited access to their work such as maps which can be used at
home for homework or practice. If learners are struggling there are many tutorial videos and
applications available online to assist them.

Projector screens- these can be used for watching videos of the historical events of World War Two.
Students can therefore visualize the topic and not just hear about the war. The screens can also be
