RUA health history
Reflection I thought this experience was extremely valuable and helpful with assessing a patient with a full medical history. We as medical professionals sometimes have an issue with looking at the whole picture rather than the problem in front of us. When we get to the opportunity to look beyond what is in front of us, we get to provide the patient-centered care that they deserve. I met with my interviewee at work, because I ended up interviewing a co-worker. It was during lunch time, so it was rather relaxed which gave me the opportunity to ask the questions I needed without such a strict response and more of an open forum conversation. I thought a lot about what she was saying in the interview and I kept finding myself relating her life and past to mine. How her mother had thyroid cancer, and how I can relate to my mother having cancer. It gave me an opportunity to connect with the patient and not make the interview feel as though it was just business.
