In this task I will be explaining how Sainsbury’s and Tesco's use and plan their
recruitment and selection process in order to recruit the appropriate people to be
hired for roles within the businesses.

Sainsbury’s




J Sainsbury’s plc trading is a large multinational store. Sainsbury’s is currently listed as
the second largest chain of supermarkets in the United Kingdom with 16.0% share of the
supermarket sector. The supermarket chain was found in 1869 by John James Sainsbury
with the first store opening in Drury lane, London the company used to hold the lead for
the largest retailer of groceries back in 1922.Sainsburys business objectives is to solely
deliver a reliable service to their customers by helping their live well for less ensuring
customers get the most out of life and providing easy affordable access to the things
such as healthy food, quality clothes, stylish homewares and many more things with
their slogan of ‘we help our customers live well today and tomorrow’. I was able to
retrieve Sainsbury’s annual report from their website. On their annual report outlines
key information as well as their organizations performance highlights for example the
business had £32,394m from group sales (inc VAT) down to 0.1 per cent, the
organization allow had up to £586m in underlaying profit before tax down to 2 per cent.
Those figures are just a few examples from their businesses annual report.

Tesco’s plc is a British multinational organization which specializes in the field of
distributing groceries and general merchandising. Headquartered in Welwyn Garden
city, England Tesco is listed as the third largest retailers in the world behind their
company rivals Sainsbury’s. The organizations ranking was measured by their gross
revenues which also lists Tesco’s to have the ninth largest revenue in the world. The
business objectives for Tesco’s include ‘Every little helps’ & ‘serving shoppers a little
better every day’ the core purpose to these business objectives is because Tesco’s
believes in helping customers by providing a efficient service which ensures the
customer to enjoying a better life and easier way of living in doing this is by providing a
wider ranger of accessible products in which customers cant get elsewhere which is
what refers to the ‘serving shoppers a little better everyday’ & every little helps
objectives can the organization really focuses on putting their customers at heart of
everything they do. I was able to research Tesco’s annual report on their website which
allowed me to uncover the company’s financial report which lists figures such as there
operating profits going up (4.9%) £2,518m as well as other cost of group sales up (0.7%)
£56.bn with a retail cash flow of £2,063m up 132.1%, the business also has a net debt of
(8.4%) within the £12.1bn bracket.
