Compare the purposes of the different documents used in the selection and recruitment process of a given
organization
In this assignment I will be comparing the purposes of the different documents which are used within the selection
and recruitment process of Tesco.
Job Description
The job description is mainly ensuring that an organization such as Tesco’s is selecting the appropriate candidate
for the selected vacancies available. The job description should be written formally and very carefully thought out
as this is the basic of all the recruiting and selection processes. The job description is an impression of what Tesco’s
is like as they state what they require and an applicant be able to get a bit of an insight into what working at that
Tesco’s feels like.
Person Specification
Organizations use person specification to inform their applicants about the requirements of the position that
they’re applying for. These requirements are qualification’s, skills, experiences and knowledge and also other
attributes that the candidate must possess to perform the duties. Tesco’s person specification would help the
applicants know what they’re expected qualification’s/experiences and skills is essential for the role in which they
are applying for and whether they meet the requirements of the vacancy.
Job Advert
The job advertisement is a paid advertisement which are found in newspapers or another place where vacancies
are placed. The advertisement is designed to attract people to see the job advert and want to apply for the job
available. It is designed to attract suitable qualified candidate for a job. An effective advert reduces the time
businesses spend interviewing unsuitable candidates by providing a precise statement of job requirements.
Application Form
The application form is to find out information that unnecessarily wouldn’t be included in a CV. There also used to
make a first impression such as checking spelling, punctuation and grammar. Schools and businesses use them to
ask previous criminal questions and employment history to check there is no criminal records. They cover
references from people with high authority, educational history, employment history, personal details. Tesco’s
may use job application forms to help them chose the best applicant and ask them to attend a store for an
interview if their application is successful. information in which Tesco may ask in an application form is the
previous employers name and telephone number of the applicant this would help them to ask further about the
applicant form their previous employer, in doing this will help them gather more information about her/him and
also it would help them to understand if the applicant had been successful in their previous job or not. Also, Tesco
may ask questions such as the qualification that the candidate has, such as gcse’s, higher or national. This would
help Tesco to decide whether the applicant has the correct qualification’s that are essential for a specific job role
or not. For example, if an applicant is applying for a senior manager position, then this section would help Tesco’s
to understand whether the applicant has enough knowledge and qualification’s that are related to that role to
make them the suitable candidate.
