The team I am a part of currently is at my job I hold now. I will write on my current and past
experiences during my working tenor with my team that I am with now. I work as a Chemical,
Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Protection Officer for the Marine Corp
Base, Quantico. I work in a 6-man team, including myself, and our teams title is Installation Protection
Branch. Our team consists of an Installation Protection Director, Security Manager, Infrastructure
Security, Emergency Manager, Anti-Terrorism Officer and lastly me as a CBRNE Protection Officer.
We are tasked with operational and physical security for the base, as well as creating general awareness
of certain things.
It’s a very daunting task, with a high level of responsibility and a lot of moving parts but working with
the current team allows me to draw from their experience and create a bit of my own.
To give a little more in-depth information about our team, every other team member is 50+
years of age and civil servants, meaning they are general schedule and work for the government.
Myself I am 32 years of age and I am a contractor. This is what I meant by being able to draw from the
experience of my coworkers (teammates) and creating a solid base of information for future endeavors
or teams I may be a part of. As a team, we all offer different ends of the knowledge spectrum and use
our vastly different skill sets to balance our work and create an easy work setting where questions are
more then welcome. With me being the youngest of the group I feel like I have more to prove, so I try
to work as hard as a possibly can to help our team in whatever way possible.
In a technical aspect, each of us are our own boss. We work as a team and make sure there is
no slack left behind that someone else will have to pick up. We do in fact have a boss on paper and that
will be the director, he makes sure the gears are turning the way they should and there are no kinks in
our work ethic. Also making sure everyone works the hours they are supposed to, to keep the workflow
