Characters:

Prospero:
 Was the Duke, his brother Alonso and Antonio sent him and baby Miranda on a rickety boat.
 They assume himself and Miranda are dead, however they survive due to Gonzalo trying to help
and due to Prospero's magic.
 Has a plan for revenge, creates storm to shipwreck Alonso and Antonio's boat with other
characters on.
 Separates the various characters around the island.
 Has a plan for every person on the island.
 Realises that his revenge is causing harm on others (Alonso's grieving for his very much alive
son)
 Makes Ariel gather the “noble” group : Gonzalo, Alonso, Antonio, Sebastian on the beach –
accuses them of their crimes but says he will forgive them, says Ferdinand is still alive.
 During the feast he plans to return back and become the Duke of Milan once again.
 Asks Ariel to make the sea calm for their return before setting him free.
 After this he breaks out the play to speak TO US, asks to be set free from the play with our
applause, breaks the spell. PLAY ENDS HERE

Miranda:
 Has lived on the island her whole life, has no one else but Prospero, Ariel and Caliban
 Caliban tries to rape her
 Prospero's third of his life
 Prized possession to Prospero
 Falls in love with Ferdinand, eventually marries him

Ferdinand:
 Alonso's son, heir to the “throne”
 Thinks his father is dead.
 Falls in love with Miranda and weds her
 Did labour to express his love for her to Prospero
 Not a virgin, could be tempted to take Miranda's virginity, warned by Prospero to not dare do it.
 Arrives on the beach aswell during Prospero's noble gathering, tells of his marriage to Miranda.

Alonso:
 Ferdinand's father
 Involved in the “Killing” of Prospero and Miranda
 Is told by Ariel (as a harpy) that his child is dead as punishment for his crimes.
 King of Naples.

Antonio:
 “Kills” his brother Prospero to become the Duke of Milan.
 Plots to kill Alonso and Gonzalo with Sebastian so they can be King and King's advisor.

Gonzalo:
 Good hearted
 Advisor of Alonso
