In this report of Philips, the integral business analysis is discussed. This company has been chosen
because of it is important role during the first half of the corona pandemic. It was one of the most
important companies because of the medical equipment for the Intensive Cares all over the world.
But what are the effects on the company itself? Did the revenue really increased and what about the
costs? And do these factors influence the stock market? These were important questions which we
asked ourselves and that's why Philips has been chosen.
Philips is active in several different segments of the market. Mainly in the medical markets, but it also
found its place in the market of consumer products with, for example, their televisions. But the focus
on Philips is on the medical market, because of the position in that market. That's also why they are
trying to sell the consumer product part of their company.
Philips strives for a sustainable and fair world. They are trying to improve the lives of the population
with their innovative products. Their target is not to be the market leader or to try to get other
companies out of the market. Of course, they want, as any company, the best possible profit, but
they try to achieve that, with the power to differentiate themselves from other companies.
Philips is a stable company with a stable course of their financial reports. The most important details
of the financial reports, like revenue, external costs, redemption, etcetera, is very stable. There is a
clear relation between their costs and their revenue. If the revenue increase, the costs also increase
(a little). Furthermore, their solvency and liquidity are on a stable high level which means they can
pay their bills easily.
Philips is a strong company with 72 000 employees worldwide. Their goal is to improve the life of
people with their innovative products. They want to achieve this goal to be sustainable and to be fair
in trading. Philips has different strategies for each of their market segments. Their organization
culture is descripted as an ‘internal specialization’.
