2.1. Niveau 1 = epileptische aanval

Motorische activiteit = verkramping, schikken …
Gestoorde waarneming = reuk, zicht, gehoor, herinneringen, emotionele beleving …
Gestuurde bewustzijn = vermindering van bewustzijnsverlies
2.1.1. Type aanvallen
Partiële = gedeelte van hersenen wordt in abnormaal proces betrokken
o Eenvoudige partiële = is er geen bewustzijn
o Complex partiële = bewustzijn is aangetast
Veralgemeend = volledig gedeelte van hersenen wordt in abnormaal proces
betrokken (altijd aantasting bewustzijnsniveau)
o Primair veralgemeende = geen vocaal beginkoude gegeneraliseerd
o Secondair veralgemeende = aanval generaliseerd vanuit een bepaalde focus
2.1.2. Fasen van een aanval
Aura = patiënt wordt gewaarschuwd dat er iets gaat gebeuren
Volledig ontwikkelde aanval
Postictale fase = periode waarbij de patiënt nog verward en versuft kan zijn
Interictale periode = tussen de epileptische aanvallen
2.1.3. Automatismen (begin van aanval kan men dit ontwikkelen)

Doelloos herhalen van handelingen
2.1.4. Langdurige aanvallen
Convulsieve status epilepticus = als er schokken zijn langer dan 30min
Complex partiële status = patiënt heeft een fuge, hij leeft in zijn eigen wereld

Gelegenheidsepilepsie = slaapgebrek, ethylgebruik
