Summary
Noah, an old man with a faded, well-worn notebook full of his life stories, he had a simple
life but still more than any man could ask for. He met the love of his life at a festival and
from that moment on he knew he would spent the rest of his life with her, Allie nelson
now an old woman with Alzheimer’s in a nursing home. Allie’s condition gets worse every
day until one day he begins to read to her. Their own story.
It begins the summer of 1932, at the festival. It was their own summer of love
until Allie’s parents found out. Allies father was a wealthy man with an important position in
society and Noah was just a man that worked hard to earn his money. Allies parents thought
the relationship was a waste of time so they decided to go back to New York. Noah was
unable to keep her in New Bern and after 2 years of writing her he went up north to work at
a metal scrap yard. When world war 2 began he went in the military for a few years.
Allie at this time got past her sadness and met Lon, soon she fell in love with him. After 4
years of being together Lon asked her to marry him. Wedding plans were being made,
everything was set but then Allie saw Noah in the paper. Before she knew it she was
in New Bern driving to his renovated plantation home asking herself what she was really
doing there.
Noah who just came back from the war was extremely glad to see Allie again, after she told
him she was engaged and happy he lost all hope. As one thing let to another soon they were
