Based on public domain well logs available in the Scotian Basin, a stratigraphic framework of
the Mesozoic- Cenozoic sedimentary record of the Scotian margin will be built using
biostratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy and sedimentary environment of the Scotian Basin using
selected wells. This project will demonstrate my learning in GEOL365 describing methods of
sequence stratigraphic analysis.
Objectives:
The objective is to build a stratigraphic cross-section of the Mesozoic- Cenozoic sedimentary
record in a select area within the Scotian margin. This cross-section will provide a framework of
major geological events that control sedimentary infill of the Scotian Basin.
Scope:
This project will consist of researching, analyzing, and gathering essential information needed
to build a Mesozoic- Cenozoic sedimentary record in my study area.
This will result in the following:
A stratigraphic chart in my study area.
A sequence stratigraphic breakdown at selected studied wells illustrating major long-
term stratigraphic sequences.
A review of timeframe for select seismic horizons representing the relevant sequence
stratigraphic surfaces.
This project will be completed by April, 2015.

b) Technically review the associated data needed for the project that is referenced in the
