INFORME DE SEDIMENTOLOGÍA




Nombre: Kelly Daniela Zuluaga

Objetivo: realizar una clasificación de sedimentos a partir de una muestra de suelo para determinar la
granulometría, la esfericidad y la redondez.

Materiales: botella con tapa de vidrio o plástico transparente, una muestra de suelo, marcador, papel
aluminio, papel para hacer apuntes, papel periódico, lupa, alfiler



Procedimiento



Día 1: 8 de mayo

Primero se tomó una muestra de suelo de una jardinera pública, el cual tenía mucha vegetación.
Posteriormente se maceró un poco puesto que la muestra no tenía casi humedad. Posteriormente, se
hizo un embudo con papel periódico y se colocó la tierra dentro de una botella plástica de 900 ml.
Una vez colocada la tierra se llenó la botella con agua hasta llegar al 80 % de su capacidad, es decir
720 ml. Después se agitó la botella tapada fuertemente durante 30 segundos y luego se esperaron 30
segundos con la botella quieta esperando que las arenas se depositen en el fondo de la botella. Luego
de los 30 segundos que tardaron las partículas en sedimentarse se marcó con una línea blanca la
botella. Se tomó la longitud desde la base de la botella hasta la marca y dio 3.5 cm. Finalmente se
dejó la botella en reposo y en una posición vertical durante 24 horas. A las dos horas de estar la
botella quieta se observó la formación de una nueva capa.




Marcación 1 (Capa A), fue realizada a los primeros 30 segundos. La capa tuvo longitud de 3.5 cm de
espesor.

, Día 2: 9 de mayo

Pasadas las 24 horas, se observó que la botella plástica tenía dos capas (sin considerar la capa C de
agua) tal y como se muestra en la figura. Las dos capas nuevas fueron nombradas B y D. La capa B
corresponde a un material limoso o arcilloso muy fino y la capa D a residuos de material orgánico
vegetal que flotan sobre el agua, por esta razón el material fue desechado. La capa C tenía partículas
en suspensión. Se observó con dificultad la formación de una pequeña capa de 0.1 cm Posteriormente
se realizaron los cálculos de los porcentajes de las capas de sedimento.
