Het oor bestaat uit 3 delen:
 Het prikkel-opvangende deel: buiten oor
 Het prikkel-geleidende deel: midden oor
 Het prikkel-verwerkende deel: binnen oor
Buiten oor:
 Oorschelp (elastisch kraakbeen)
 Uitwendige gehoorgang
- In het rotsbeen 2,5 cm
- Haartjes houden stof tegen
- Kliertjes produceren cerumen
 Trommelvlies (membrana tympani)

Midden oor:
 Het middenoor wordt gevormd door de trommelholte
 In de trommelholte liggen de gehoorbeentjes te weten:
- De hamer (malleus)
- Het aambeeld (incus)
- De stijgbeugel (stapes)
 Geven trillingen trommelvlies door aan binnenoor (20x
versterkt)
 M. tensor tympani en m. stapedius

Trommelholte:
 In de trommelholte zit ook de buis van Eustachius
 Die loopt van de keelholte naar het middenoor
 Opening in keelholte gaat open bij slikken en gapen

In de trommelholte zitten ook:
 Het ronde venster
 Het ovale venster
 Achter deze vensters zit met binnenoor het slakkenhuis (cochlea)

Binnenoor:
 Wordt gevormd door het slakkenhuis
 Labyrint met 3 halfcirkelvormige kanalen
 Evenwichtszenuw
 Gehoorszenuw
