The form that I have created with this ready database is to add an owner to the database.
First thing I did was get the relevant fields that I needed to create the form. The fields I used
were owner ID, Owner email, Owner telephone number, Owner surname, Branch ID and
Number of properties. I got these fields from the Owner table and accessed it from the add
existing fields option. I also added a title called Add an owner which makes it easy for users
to know what the form is about. I also added a description which tells the user to input all
the information that will be needed for the form. This makes my form more clear to the user.
For my form I have used a macro to save the owner details in the database. I did this by
adding a button and named it ‘save’ and then went to the build event and selected the macro
builder. My macro has multiple commands of which are linked to each field of the required
fields of the report. Each command has a message box under it with an error message.
The commands also have validations in them. The validations that I have used in the macro
for the fields that are used in the form is: IsNull. This will make it so the user cannot leave a
field blank when entering data to add an owner. Also the macro contains a run menu
command and below it is the command called ‘SaveRecord’. This is the command that will
save the record to the database after the user has clicked on the save button.
I have also used further validation for the number of properties and for the telephone
number. For the number of properties I have used a length check of between 1-10. Also for
the number of properties I have put the default value to 1 this will reduce errors as the
number of properties cant be 0 as an owner needs to at least have 1 property to add an
owner. This will reduce errors when the user goes to input a value for the number of
properties that they have. For the telephone number the validations that I have used is the
input mask. The input mask I have used is (999) 9999 9999. This is so when the owner
inputs their telephone number it will not let the owner write a letter in the telephone field.
In conclusion I think my form is very clear and user friendly and has met all the requirements
of what the form is supposed to do. Lastly my form has been tested thoroughly so that it is
efficient and reliable and is working properly. Overall I believe I have completed all
requirements and have completed my form perfectly.
